About Us

Our mission is to make Mesquite a healthier city by educating our citizens about our Nation’s number one killer, heart disease.

In 2019, Mesquite became a “Heart Safe Community” through the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC). The Heart Safe Community designation is designed to recognize the efforts a community makes to its citizens in protecting them from the effects of heart disease and sudden cardiac death.

The Mesquite Heart Board hosts an annual Mesquite Go Red Gala each February to help provide resources and raise awareness in our community. The proceeds raised through this event are kept here in our community. We developed a grant program to ensure more Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are publicly available to Mesquite residents and visitors. In 2023, the Mesquite Heart Board approved three (3) AED grants for local organizations and purchased a new battery and electrodes for an AED granted in 2019. This program helps ensure rapid response to cardiac events within the community. Other Mesquite Heart Board programs include free CPR/AED certification for recipients of our grant AEDs as well as CPR/AED courses provided at no charge for Mesquite businesses and residents. We provide Hands-Only CPR education for larger groups and funding for individual defibrillator vests for those with limited insurance or financial resources.

As we prepare for our 5th Annual Gala (February 16, 2024), we hope to partner with our neighbors in the community to put on a heartfelt event. Our goal this year is $100,000, so we are asking for partners to help sponsor our event and donors to provide exciting silent auction items. All proceeds benefit the Mesquite community through advocacy efforts to help those we love to live longer, healthier lives.
